On May 25 and 26, 2023, the Centre de recherche sur les Risques et les Crises (CRC) at Mines Paris / PSL organized a research seminar with a delegation from the Swedish Risk and Crisis Research Center (RCR) at Mittuniversitetet. The seminar focused on pedagogical innovation in the teaching of non-technical skills for crisis management.
The seminar participants shared a theoretical position based on systems approaches and/or the human and social sciences. The Swedish delegation included Aron Larsson (professor of computer and systems science at Mid Sweden University), Minna Lundgren (associate professor in sociology, scientific director of RCR Simulation Lab), Per Alexander Esbjörnsson (technical director of RCR Simulation Lab and media producer), Kari Pihl (manager of RCR Simulation Lab); CRC was represented by Justin Larouzée, Aurélien Portelli, Eric Rigaud and Didier Delaitre. The research teams presented their theoretical frameworks, immersive devices, past work and work in progress. Discussions provided an opportunity to compare the research and teaching strategies of the two laboratories, and to outline opportunities for collaboration and exchanges in the short and medium term, including: the organization of a visit to Mid Sweden University (second half of 2023) and the possibility of a joint response to a European “crisis for humanities” call for proposals, which could bring together, in addition to RCR and CRC, Ukrainian and German researchers (first proposal September 2023).
