The post master program MRI’s history begins in 2002, with a reflection of the implementation of an international education program concerning industrial risk supported by major French companies and by establishing a partnership between MINES ParisTech and TONGJI University in Shanghai. The master’s project was accredited in 2004 and hosts now in 2017 its thirteenth promotion, having graduated some 200 French, Chinese and other nationalities.

From the outset, we have built this training program by seeking both academic excellence, valorisation of the latest scientific advances, cultural diversity of the students and the active participation of professionals, through an interactive form of pedagogy that enables students to practice their achievements.

In its current form, the MS welcomes some thirty students, mostly having professionalization contract with an industrial partner. The theoretical modules take place from the beginning of October to the end of March and contains approximately 500 hours. The pedagogy is organized along six main axes, which complement each other to give students an ability to be quickly operational and to be able to take both technical and managerial responsibilities. These axes deal with risk management, the behavior of individuals and the functioning of organizations, in order to give students the ability to act in a variety of situations, from routine to crisis management.

Opportunities are diverse, but a majority of graduates move to the oil and gas sector (25%) and to consultancy and study offices (25%). Professional integration is ensured upon graduation, 80% of the students find a job 3 months after leaving the school. The average annual income of students leaving the MRI is 38,000 euros in France.
